Showy Mountain Ash
Sorbus decora
Appearance: Showy Mountain Ash is typically chosen as an accent tree due to its smaller stature and 4-season interest. Dark green leaves grow alongside clusters of small white flowers which turn to clusters of showy red fruits in early fall. The leaves themselves turn a bright red in the fall. For winter interest, the smooth, grey bark stands out and shines against white of the snow, and the berries persist into the winter.
Care and Maintenance: Relatively low maintenance. Prune in late winter once the threat of extreme cold has passed. Red berries attract birds. Requires well-drained soil, resistant to fireblight
