Ivory Pillar Japanese Lilac
Syringa reticulata "Willamette"
Appearance: Pollinator magnet! The ivory silk lilac has cream-coloured plumes of flowers that show off in early spring. Once the flowering is over they form a dense canopy with dark-green leaves (with no autumnal show) and smooth red-bark that adds winter interest. It attracts butterflies and deer, so do not plant these in a spot where you know deer can get to.
Care and Maintenance: Relatively low maintenance, prune in spring after flowering as they flower on last year’s growth. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, and shouldn't be allowed to dry out. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments
